IdeaJam Provides Great Support and Customization

by Mike Badgley on October 2, 2009

This morning I had conference call with our client and an IdeaJam rep, Bruce Elgort, to discuss the custom HTML/CSS skin I had created for the application.  Although I had some reservations about the product before going into this call, I have to say that I was pretty impressed by the amount of customization that is available once Bruce had taken us through a detailed tour of the product.

A few things that I had been concerned about will no longer be an issue:

  • Injecting the custom JavaScript can be done through an HTML placeholder that sits at the top of the page and can accept whatever raw data (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc.) you throw at it.
  • Main style sheet that controls the default look of the site (default.css) can be overwritten with the custom changes I created for this design.
  • All labels that appear through the site can be modified – including allowing me to add custom HTML/CSS to them. This is especially helpful because there are a number of labels on the site that are not marked-up in any way – which makes for a difficult time styling them uniquely from the rest of the content!

On Monday I’ll connect back with the client and we’ll go through the process together of implementing the templates into the IdeaJam environment.

A big thanks to Bruce who did a great job presenting and was very helpful and patient with the large number of questions that we had!
